SINGLE TEMPERATURE CHECK AT MALLS

Mall visitors will still need to record their details manually or on MySejahtera for contact tracing

SHOPPING mall patrons need to have their temperature taken only once at the entrance rather than at every individual outlet.

However, Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said they would still need to record their details at the outlets either manually or through the MySejahtera application for contact tracing.

He said the Special Cabinet Meeting on the Recovery Movement Control Order yesterday also decided that the same approach could be used for hotels.

“The management needs to record the temperature only once and the guest would be free to visit any restaurant or outlet in the hotel.”

Speaking to the press in Putrajaya, he also said that Malaysians and foreigners entering the country would have to pay for their Covid-19 screening test upon arrival.

However, this would not apply to those with special needs, civil servants returning home from official matters and students returning from abroad.

“Those with special needs must have the persons with disabilities (OKU) card issued by the Welfare Department, while students must have proof of student identification and are returning home for the first time,” he said.

Those belonging to any of the three categories and had paid for the test upon arrival earlier would be eligible for a refund from the Health Ministry.

On the mandatory quarantine, he said there were 6,927 people who returned home via the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) between June 10 and 28.

Of the total, 6,891 were instructed to observe home quarantine while 36 had been sent to the hospital, he said.

On Sunday, 318 Malaysians arrived home via KLIA and klia2 from Indonesia, South Africa, Singapore, Hong Kong, United Kingdom, China and Qatar.

All of them had been instructed to undergo mandatory quarantine at their homes.

Ismail Sabri also said that solemnisation ceremonies can proceed with the presence of only 250 guests at one time.

He said there was some confusion about whether solemnisation ceremonies, which come under the social events category, were allowed to proceed with no more than 250 guests starting July 1, following his announcement last week.

“The Special Cabinet meeting had agreed to allow no more than 250 guests for wedding and solemnisation ceremonies held at a mosque, hall, home, or other locations.

“The guest limit must be based on the size and capacity as well as the adherence to standard operating procedures (SOP).”

He said the government had also given the green light for couples from other religions to hold wedding ceremonies at their own houses of worship and religious associations.

The ceremonies must adhere to the SOP issued by the National Unity Ministry.

On Covid-19 public sanitation operations under the Housing and Local Government Ministry, he said since March 30, the authorities had carried out 9,011 operations covering 134 zones.

As of June 28, 22 sanitation operations had been carried out covering 14 zones in four states including Sabah with 10 operations, Malacca (nine) and Terengganu (two).
