AFTER several months of closure, popular holiday destination Legoland Malaysia Resort has sprung back to life as excited families and avid Lego fans made their way there for the reopening last Thursday.

Legoland said despite operating in a reduced capacity, it welcomed many eager guests back to its theme park, hotel and interactive underwater world attraction Sea Life Malaysia.

Except for Legoland Water Park, the larger part of the resort and other amenities have resumed operations with new health and safety protocols in place.

“It goes without saying that we are excited to have finally welcomed families back again.

“The reopening was also an emotional moment for all of us at Legoland Malaysia. It was uplifting to be able to see our guests sharing the same excitement while having the confidence to enjoy their vacation with a peace of mind,” said Legoland Malaysia divisional director C.S. Lim.

Legoland Malaysia said guests could expect new protocols and operational changes throughout the resort.

These include social distancing and crowd control, limitation of capacity to 30 per cent of normal operations, temperature screening, guest registration, hygiene and disinfection protocols and enhanced cleaning regimes.

Last week, the resort announced its reopening with attractive and flexible promotions, including limited-time price discounts and extended validity period.

The reopening drew an encouraging number of pre-booking orders.

Johor Tourism, Youth and Sports Committee chairman Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the reopening was an encouraging start to boost tourism in Johor.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has hit us hard, but with proactive measures, collective efforts and commitment by industry players in adhering to the standard operating procedure and guidelines, this will boost tourists’ confidence.

“Visit Johor 2020 resumes as the country enters the recovery phase, and Johor has a lot to offer when it comes to tourism products and destinations,” he said.
