COOK UP A STORM WITH ALIF
RSPO certification an assurance product is sustainably produced, says Sime Darby Oils
THE plethora of food we indulge in every day comes in many taste and forms, all with the aim to nourish and give us energy throughout the day.
In conjunction with the annual Sustainable Gastronomy Day, Sime Darby Plantation Bhd (Sime Plantation) said it was supporting local products that were sustainably produced.
Sime Darby, the world’s largest producer of Certified Sustainable Palm Oil, claimed its Alif cooking oil was the only in the domestic market that was “sustainable, delicious and healthy”.
“Our sustainable promise transcends across our entire value chain and with this, we are able to uphold our commitment in ensuring that Alif is produced according to the highest standard of palm oil filtering, processing, refining and bottling.
“This is to guarantee that only high-quality cooking oil is made available on supermarkets’ shelves and consumers’ kitchens,” said Sime Darby Oils managing director Mohd Haris Mohd Arshad.
Sime Darby Oils, as the downstream of Sime Plantation, manufactures, sells and markets oils and fats products and palm oilbased biodiesel, among others.
Haris said Alif ’s Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) certification was an assurance that it was produced without causing any damage to the environment and biodiversity.
“We are committed to producing the Alif cooking oil and all our products through absolute transparency,” he added.
A natural cholesterol and transfat free product, the cooking oil is naturally rich in Vitamin E.
Sime Plantation said this antioxidant source had been proven to strengthen the heart against stroke and other heart diseases as well as reduce cholesterol levels.
It also has a higher resistance to oxidation during frying at high temperature, making it the perfect cooking oil for repeated deep frying by up to three times.
“It is also perfect for sautéing, stir frying your favourite comfort food or even baking your favourite cookies and cakes,” it added.
