Man high on drugs attacks mum with cleaver

BUTTERWORTH: A man high on drugs attacked his 67-year-old mother with a cleaver after she asked him to switch off the lights in his room. The woman sustained a 10cm cut to her head and an 8cm cut to her right arm trying to fend off her son’s attack at their flat here on Monday. Seberang Prai Utara district police chief Assistant Commissioner Noorzainy Mohd Noor said she was attacked at 8.15am and sought protection at her neighbour’s home until police and an ambulance arrived. She has been taken to Seberang Jaya Hospital. Noorzainy said the suspect had been arrested. The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for intentionally causing injury using weapons or other dangerous objects.
