THE Squash Racquets Association of Malaysia (SRAM) will organise two Professional Squash Association (PSA) Tour events before the end of the year.

SRAM PSA 1 and 2, both PSA

Challenger 10 events, will be held on Nov 25-28 and Dec 2-5 respectively.

Both tournaments will offer ranking points.

SRAM president Gerard Monteiro said: “We’ve approved these two tournaments mainly for our players in the short-term.

“Our professional players such as Ivan Yuen and Low Wee Wern will be losing ranking points, and this is really an opportunity for them to earn some points in the meantime.

“So it will be two US$10,000 (RM42,000) tournaments and the plan is also to try to be more inclusive towards our state affiliates.

“For starters, Sarawak have agreed to take up one of the events.

“We’re also sending out notices to other states to see who else is interested in the second event.”

Gerard also added that SRAM have a few more events lined up until the end of the year to keep the players busy and on their toes.

There are two proposed SportExcel Doubles events, slated for Oct 29-31 and Nov 19-21, as well as a Junior Carnival Grand Finals locked in for Nov 4-8.

The Junior Carnival meet is meant to replace the National Junior Circuit Grand Finals and will feature age-groups from Under-9 to Under-19.

On top of that, SRAM’s National Championships is also set to get underway on Oct 6-11 at the National Squash Centre in Bukit Jalil.
