Owner finds decomposed body in ceiling of eatery

-

A body was found in the ceiling of a restaurant in Jalan Chung Thien Vun here on Wednesday. The gruesome discovery was made by the premises owner at 10pm. The fully clothed male body was decomposed with 70 per cent burns. It was understood that the owner called the police when he detected a foul stench emanating from the ceiling while he was inspecting the restaurant, which had been closed since the Movement Control Order was enforced last year. The Fire and Rescue Department removed the body and sent it to Tawau General Hospital for a post-mortem. Tawau district police chief Assistant Commissioner Peter Umbuas said no identification documents were found. “Investigations are ongoing to identify victim.”
