‘Azahar’ m-cycle theft gang crippled with arrest of 14

Police busted the “Azahar” motorcycle theft gang, which has been active since late last year, with the arrest of 14 suspected members. This followed raids in Hulu Langat, Rawang and Sungai Buloh from Feb 1 to 18. Sungai Buloh district police chief Superinten­dent Shafa’aton Abu Bakar said an Indonesian man, believed to be the buyer, and two women aged 18 and 20, believed to be the friends of the members, were also arrested. Police seized five Honda EX5 and Yamaha LC, five motorcycle frames and an engine valued at RM30,000. “The gang dismantled the motorcycle­s and sold them to foreigners for RM500 to RM1,000.” With the arrests, police solved 12 cases of missing vehicles and identified 15 thefts linked to the gang.
