Looking for attack options
NO player in the national training squad has secured a spot in Tan Cheng Hoe’s side for the pre-World Cup in June.
Cheng Hoe is using the current training camp in Johor to help the seniors and newcomers gel before they return to their respective M-league clubs.
“We are watching the newcomers closely in training. They are bringing in something new to the team.
“However, we have not finalised our squad for the assignment in June.
“There are many more players who we want to call up and test before finalising our team.
“Those not in the squad this time are Liridon Krasniqi, Junior Eldstal and Dominic Tan.
“The youngsters in the squad are looking good. They have adapted well, and we hope they can build a good understanding with the senior players.”
Cheng Hoe’s main focus is to find a formidable partnership in attack.
Among his options are Guilherme de Paula, Norshahrul Idlan Talaha, Syafiq Ahman, Luqman Hakim Shamsudin and Shahrel Fikri Fauzi.
“We need to solve this problem. Anyway, we are seeing a healthy competition among the players for the role.”
Harimau Malaya will play the United Arab Emirates on June 3 without midfielder Brendan Gan, who will serve a onematch suspension.
They will complete their pre-World Cup Group G campaign against Vietnam on June 11 and Thailand four days later, all in Dubai.
“Brendan cannot play, so we need to find a suitable replacement. Among our options are Nazmi Faiz Mansor, Krasniqi, Danial Amier Norhisham, Syamer Kutty Abba and Nor Azam Azih,” he added.
