Justin, a star in the making

-

JUSTIN Hoh is a rising star in badminton.

The 17-year-old has been making waves over the last few years in the boys’ singles and is just waiting to burst into the senior scene.

Yesterday, Justin showed his class once more when he saw off two back-up players in the BA of Malaysia (BAM) junior versus senior internal challenge.

In the first match, Justin scored a convincing 21-19, 21-14 win over Wyman Goh before carving out a 16-21, 21-19, 23-21 victory over Ong Ken Yon at the Academy Badminton Malaysia in Bukit Kiara.

Just last week, Justin had topped Group A of the junior internal ranking tournament.

National Under-18 boys' singles head coach Hazwan Jamaluddin believes Justin can only get better.

“He is talented, dedicated and committed. It's been like that over the last two years.

“With the right programme and guidance, Justin is set for greater heights.

“To be fair, the seniors played well too, but they had more pressure to deal with, and Justin capitalised on that.

“This young batch of players have a bright future. They must stay competitive,” said Hazwan, also acknowledging youngsters, Fazriq Razif and V Poopathi, who both qualified from last week's internal junior ranking.

Yesterday, Fazriq won one match against Ken Yon but lost to Lee Shun Yang. Poopathi lost to Shun Yang and Wyman.
