Pas remains with PN, urges others to back ruling coalition

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Pas has resolved that it would remain with the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government and urged other like-minded individuals and groups to back the ruling coalition.

Pas president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang also called on Islamic groups to cooperate and unite under the PN umbrella, whose leadership is based on Islamic values and the principle of integrity.

He extended a similar invitation to non-Muslim groups, which are not extreme in their views and principles, to join the cause in saving the country.

“Those whose aim of their struggle was to amass wealth (for themselves) and not because they were amassing the wealth for the struggle are no longer qualified to lead the umat (people).

“Although many are no longer interested in Islamic guidance,

Pas continues to believe in the guidance from Allah,” said Hadi in his “Bicara Presiden Pas”, which was posted on his social media platform account.

There was no mention of Umno or its leaders during the lengthy discourse by the Marang member of parliament.

Hadi stressed that the Islamic party also rejected any form of consensus outcome that would divide the people and abuse the original goal of the Muafakat Nasional (MN) charter and its set-up.

He reminded all that the goal of the MN charter was to enter into a political “battlefield” to defend the welfare of all the people in a nation comprising all groups based on the principles of independence and sovereignty as well as based on the foundation which has been enshrined in the Federal Constitution.

“Pas rejects politics on the side that wastes time as well as street politics, which would burden the people without taking into consideration the risk unleashed by the natural disaster and outbreak (Covid-19 pandemic) that is still affecting the country.

“The party rejects consensus without Bersatu (Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia) as well as quarters that show no loyalty to the country and are extreme to the extent of challenging race and religion.

“Pas rejects (any) agenda that seeks solely to protect their respective leaders and groups, instead of saving the country as well as the people’s wellbeing.”

Hadi also called on all quarters to accept the “new offer” on the virtue of integrity and welfare as well as following the spirit enshrined by the Constitution, which celebrates a multireligious and multiracial society.

Though Hadi did not mention any quarters, the remarks in the discourse comes on the heels of the motion adopted by Umno delegates at the Barisan Nasional component members annual general meeting on Sunday, where it called to sever ties with Bersatu and go solo in the 15th General Election.
