HPC TO PROVIDE OVER 50,000 JOBS
One-stop portal addresses unemployment challenges amid pandemic
THE newly launched Human Resources Development Fund Placement Centre (HPC) aims to provide more than 50,000 jobs for Malaysians this year to address unemployment challenges amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
The one-stop portal was established by Human Resources Development Bhd to assist in matching employers from a wide range of industries and sectors to the right candidates.
It will fill immediate vacancies, offer training and development opportunities to employees, address the talent skill gap and provide Malaysians with the opportunity to connect with an expansive list of coaches and trainers for career counselling and advice.
Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri M. Saravanan said the centre was a great initiative that
complemented the ministry’s existing efforts to address unemployment challenges.
“Beyond immediate placements, Malaysians from a diverse range of backgrounds, skill sets and experiences will be able to get the support and guidance they need to jumpstart and build their career journeys,” he said in his speech during the launch held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre here yesterday.
The centre was launched by Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz with Saravanan. The launch was witnessed by Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF) chairman Datuk Seri Jamil Salleh and HRDF chief executive Datuk Shahul Hameed.
So far, more than 200 candidates have benefited from the initiative by securing jobs at some of Malaysia’s leading companies and organisations.
Saravanan said up to yesterday, close to 20,000 job opportunities could be accessed via the portal through strategic cooperation with employers’ associations and career strategic partners.
“To reach the 50,000 job placements target, HPC will conduct road shows around the country.
“I urge more Malaysians, especially those who lost their jobs or are fresh graduates, to grab this opportunity,” he added.
Tengku Zafrul said HPC will institutionalise public and private collaboration along with the creation of job opportunities.
He said the collaboration was important in upgrading the workforce based on employability needs by providing the required up-skilling, re-skilling and competencies training.
“These efforts will help further secure employment, supported by a job portal as a matching platform for supply and demand.
“Without a doubt, HPC will complement and support the National Employment Council towards meeting its objectives by the end of this year,” he said in his speech.
He said the newly launched HPC will help increase the average household income of Malaysians while further improving the nation’s labour market.
