Maqis seizes margarine products from Ireland
The Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services (Maqis) Department Department seized 7,824kg of margarine dairy products from Ireland, valued at RM116,211, because the documents on their import permits were confusing. Selangor Maqis director Zamri Hisham said the consignment was seized during a routine inspection at 10am on Monday. He said the consignment was confiscated as it was found to have breached Section 13 of the Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services Act 2011 for submitting a permit that was false, inaccurate or confusing. Offenders could be fined a maximum of RM50,000 or imprisonment for up to two years or both, upon conviction, he added.
