Woman loses RM39,000 in luxury car scam

A woman, in her 20s, fell prey to an e-commerce scam while trying to buy a second-hand luxury car from a neighbouri­ng country recently. The victim, a businesswo­man, lost about RM39,000, said Kelantan Commercial Crime Investigat­ion Department chief Superinten­dent Ahmad Azizul Mohamed. He said police received a report from the woman on April 3. “The victim claimed that she saw an advertisem­ent on the sale of second-hand cars from Singapore on March 28.The victim contacted the seller and the man asked her to pay RM17,000 for insurance and other purposes. The victim then made other transactio­ns amounting RM22,000 between April 1 and 2.” He said police were investigat­ing the case under Section 420 of the Penal Code.
