Government nod for RM12.84b wage subsidy

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia has approved RM12.84 billion under the wage subsidy programme (PSU) as of March 26, Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz said.

In the ministry’s weekly Laksana report, 322,177 employers and 2.64 million employees had benefited from PSU 1.0, said Tengku Zafrul.

He said as for the Kita Prihatin package, PSU 2.0 disbursed RM1.11 billion as of March 26, benefiting 72,875 employers and 626,955 employees.

For the Skills and Skills Upgrading Programme, Tengku Zafrul said 137,290 participan­ts were approved to join the programme compared with 137,075 participan­ts approved a week earlier.

He said the list of courses in demand can be viewed through the Finance Ministry’s website.

Meanwhile, Tengku Zafrul said 132,118 employees had secured employment under the Hiring Incentive and Training Programme.
