PULSAR RS200, STILL A VALUE BUY
THE term “good value for money” has been bandied around so much so that it brings little meaning to most buyers but sometimes, it can be applied to something that really deserves it.
And that is so with the Modenas Pulsar RS200.
It has been on the market for a while now and not many have come close to its combination of features and price.
The 2021 Pulsar RS200 is fitted with a SOHC-4V liquid-cooled DTS-I engine producing 24.5PS and 18.6Nm of torque.
Last year, the model was fitted with a single-channel anti-lock braking system that uses a 300mm single brake disc in front and a 230mm disc at the back. Both are squeezed by Bybre calipers.
The 13-litre fuel tank still promises an estimated range of 800km.
“The price of the 2021 Pulsar RS200 remains the same as the previous variant. We hope that those who have been waiting for it will be pleased with the new colour options
and designs offered,” said Modenas chief executive officer Roslan Roskan.
The Pulsar RS200 now comes in all-new colours, specifically Pearl Metallic White, Pewter Grey and Matte Burnt Red.
Members of the media recently tested the bike at the Litar Rakyat Kuala Selangor, a twisty, technical 1.1km go-kart track.
The Pulsar RS200 performed admirably even though the temperatures were scorching hot. The perimeter frame and six-position adjustable
Nitrox shock were adequate for track use, although the testers wished they got proper sticky tyres.
The standard tyres are fine for the road but for track use, the front tyre will wilt easily. In the Pulsar’s defence, no incidents were recorded, maybe due to the ability of the chassis to communicate with the rider when the limits are reached.
The Pulsar RS200 has a recommended selling price of RM9,990 (without insurance and road tax) and is available at selected Modenas dealers nationwide.
