UITM FC defender Faizal Arif has urged his side to be more offensive in the Super League. The university team hope to finally win their first league match when they play Sabah today at Likas Stadium in Kota Kinabalu.

They are rooted bottom of the 12-team standings with only a point, from the 0-0 draw against Penang last month, to show from eight matches.

Caretaker coach Reduan Abdullah, who replaced German Frank Bernhardt last week, has been given the task to save UiTM’s season.

The Lion Troops have the lowest scoring record with only three goals, while they have conceded 16 times — the most so far in the competition.

Sabah are 10th in the standings with six points.

“The coach told us that we lack the bite in attack, and I agree with him. We need to stop playing defensively in matches.

“We need someone who can score goals regularly. I believe the coach has come up with solutions for the match against Sabah.

“I believe in Reduan's ability. Everyone is giving their full commitment in training as they are eager to get the team back on track this season.” said Faizal.

Reduan, a former national player, said his team need to minimise individual mistakes. In his first game in charge, UiTM were thrashed 3-0 by Melaka last week.

However, he has been drilling his team accordingly in training and believes they will rise against Sabah.

“I am not feeling any pressure. I took up this challenge as I believe I can turn things around.

“I will try my best to help the team start winning matches.

“We make too many individual mistakes in matches. It is something we need to work on and improve. Hopefully, we will be tactically stronger against Sabah,” said Reduan.

Sabah, however, will not be an

easy task for UiTM.

The Rhinos have improved from a poor start with five points to show in their last four matches.
