MARII TECH AIDS IN COVID-19 FIGHT
Institute’s platforms can predict infection patterns, identify high-risk areas
THE Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii) has developed platforms that use artificial intelligence, machine learning, big data management, simulations and others to mitigate the Covid-19 pandemic via the find, test, trace, isolation, support (FTTIS) approach.
Using data of infection hotspots, MARii’s predictive modelling and simulation platforms, developed through the MARii Simulation and Analysis Centre (Marsac), made it is possible to predict infection patterns and identify high-risk areas to prescribe mass Covid-19 screenings.
Chief executive officer Datuk Madani Sahari said MARii had a strong track record in developing intelligent technologies for the automotive sector for more than a decade.
“As we evolved to serve beyond the automotive and mobility sectors, many of our homegrown technologies have been adapted to applications in many sectors, including health management.”
MARii has also developed the ImmuSAFE Covid+ biochip test kit, a blood test that can identify
the presence of antibodies in people that previously had an infection.
It has a sensitivity and specificity of 100 per cent, validated by the Institute for Medical Research (IMR).
The kits will allow industry players and businesses to better manage the impacts of health risks of employees in their daily operations.
The MARii Tracker application can allow people to trace the infected individuals’ close contacts.
Madani said a significant portion of the technologies developed by MARii was in partnership with local companies in simulation, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, big data management and other Industry 4.0 technologies.
These include projects, such as the International Trade and Industry Ministry’s Covid-19 Intelligent Management System and Safe@Work, built within the MARii Cloud Web Services.
