EMCO in 10 localities in four states

KUALA LUMPUR: The Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) will be enforced in 10 localities in Sabah, Perak, Kedah and Pahang from tomorrow to Sept 5 to contain the spread of Covid-19.

National Security Council director-general Datuk Rodzi Md Saad yesterday said the same set of EMCO standard operating procedures would be implemente­d in these areas.

He said the decision was made based on the Health Ministry’s risk assessment and infection trend in the areas.

In Sabah, the affected areas are Taman Thien Vun, Taman Victoria, Taman King Fook and Kampung Kumia, Batu 4 in Tawau.

“Also affected in Sabah are two localites in Beluran district, Kampung Sulit Paitan and Kampung Matanggal Lama.”

In Perak, the affected areas are Pelantar Sungai Pinang Kecil, Pulau Pangkor and the Tapah Prison and quarters in Batang Padang.

The Pokok Sena Prison and quarters, Kedah, and Kampung Telemin, Lipis, Pahang, are also affected.

Rodzi said the EMCO in Kampung Orang Asli Sungai Bot, Karak in Bentong, Pahang, as well as Taman Semarak Indah in Tawau and Kampung Tanjung Kapor in Kudat, Sabah, would be extended to Sept 5.

The EMCO in these localities was supposed to be lifted today, he said.

He added that the EMCO in Felda Jengka 7, Maran in Pahang that was scheduled to end on Wednesday was lifted yesterday.

The EMCO in Jalan Feri Lama, Teluk Gading in Rompin, Felda Jengka 15 and Kampung Paya Besar Kertau in Maran, Sri Semarak Flat and Taman Sejati in Tawau, Kampung Koidupan and Kampung Guunsing-Novunsu in Penampang, Kampung Marau in Sipitang and Kampung Baru Kimanis in Papar would end as scheduled today.
