ATOTAL of 22,262 Covid19 infections were recorded yesterday, with Selangor continuing to log the highest number of cases in the country.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said this raised the cumulative cases to 1,535,286, with 260,880 active cases.

This is the fourth consecutive day Malaysia had registered more than 20,000 cases and yesterday’s cases were a slight drop from the record 23,564 cases reported on Friday.

Dr Noor Hisham said Selangor recorded the bulk of cases at 7,011, followed by 2,651 in Sabah, 1,964 in Sarawak and 1,880 in Kedah.

“A total of 469 cases (2.1 per cent) were from Categories 3, 4 and 5, while another 21,793 cases (97.9 per cent) were from Categories 1 and 2.

“This is based on the clinical condition of the new cases. Some of the cases remained in the same category throughout the infection period.

“However, the condition of some patients would improve or decline.”

He said 18,374 cases (85.13 per cent) of the new cases had no Covid-19 vaccination or had yet to complete their doses.
