Yatch docked at Pulau Gaya destroyed in fire

KOTA KINABALU: A recreational yacht anchored off Pulau Gaya was destroyed in a fire yesterday. Residents noticed the fire at 9.20am and tried to put it out before firemen arrived at the scene. A district Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said they received an emergency call at 9.30am and a team was despatched to the location using a marine police boat from the Jesselton jetty here. “The fire was brought under control at 10.37am. No injuries were reported in the fire, which destroyed almost the entire yacht. The cause of the fire and estimated losses are being investigated.”
