Bersatu’s Ali contesting Krian seat as independent candidate
SIBU: Datuk Ali Biju of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) is defending his Krian state seat in the 12th Sarawak election.
This is despite the decision made by the Bersatu leadership at the federal level to stay out of the state polls and to assist Gabungan Parti Sarawak.
Ali, who is the federal deputy energy and natural resources minister, is contesting the Krian seat as an independent candidate. The matter was confirmed by his senior private secretary, Vernon Kredit.
“Yes, he is contesting as an independent candidate. He was accompanied by his proposer Elley Chandi and seconder Antok Jaya at the nomination centre.”
Among Ali’s contenders are GPS’ Friday Belik, Musa Dinggat of Parti Sarawak Bersatu and Danny Kuan of Parti Bumi Kenyalang.
