Fama to provide food kits in disaster relief ops

-

KUALA LUMPUR: The Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama) set up a Civil Defence Emergency Response Team (CDERT) yesterday to increase staff readiness for disasters, especially the current monsoon. Fama director-general Datuk Zainal Abidin Yang Razalli launched the CDERT on Sunday, which was in line with the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 (Sendai Framework) that emphasises disaster risk mitigation as a shared responsibility. Fama has been tasked with providing food kits to the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) that will be distributed in the event of disasters. “On this basis, Fama staff need to be trained to help channel aid to those affected,” he said.
