Fairview upbeat about outlook despite Covid-19
KUALA LUMPUR: Fairview International School, which is part of Fairview Education Group, is optimistic about the future despite challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic to its near-term outlook.
“All plans may need to go through a five-year frustration cycle but we are well-prepared for the storm ahead,” said Fairview International School director Dr Vincent Chian at the unveiling of its RM10 million musical talent search initiative at its Dominus Art Centre on Sunday.
Fairview has five schools in Malaysia and one in Scotland. It is one of Asia’s largest networks of International Baccalaureate schools.
It is also one of the few Asiabased education providers to have ventured into the European heartland.
Fairview aspires to instil a love of arts among its students and to this end, it has introduced Dominus, its grand concert hall with state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment.
Chian said the RM10 million talent search initiative was launched in conjunction with Thailand’s National Day celebrations on Sunday.
“We know that there is a risk but we believe the reward from this venture will position Fairview as a global brand name,” he said.
During the celebrations, Fairview hosted Dr Poom Prommachart, a fellow at University College Fairview, who held an hour-long piano recital in honour of Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
The special piano recital, “From Thailand With Love”, featured the royal compositions of King Bhumibol.
Meanwhile, Fairview plans to raise funds for two schools through the recital.
The recipients are SJK (C) Lee Rubber and SJK (C) Mun Yee.
The Fairview Education Group consists of Fairview International School, Fairview Cambridge Programme, the Asia Arts Academy, the Dominus Performing Arts Centre and University College Fairview.
