Covid-19 penalty blow for the women in ACT
THE women’s Asian Champions Trophy (ACT) turned into a nightmarish Covid-19 experience for Malaysia as they were removed from the tournament yesterday.
The Asian Hockey Federation (AHF), in a brief statement said: “We regret to inform that Malaysia will play no part in the ACT in Donghae, South Korea, as several team members tested positive for Covid19.
“It is now a five-team competition.”
On Nov 29, the team were tested for Covid-19 upon arrival in Donghae with Nurul Faezah Shafiqah testing positive.
The team were then instructed to remain in their hotels rooms and were not allowed to play against China and India in their opening matches.
“We have been in our hotel rooms since arriving here. We were hoping to start our campaign against Japan tomorrow (today).
“Everyone is disappointed,” said national coach Nasihin Nubli.
