UP to 10,548 security personnel, including their spouses, will be able to cast their ballots on

Dec 14.

They are members of the police, armed forces and General Operations Force (GOF).

State police commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail said 85 early voting centres with 111 channels will be opened for the purpose.

“The polling centres are at the contingent police headquarters hall, district police headquarters, Police Family Association houses, resource centres, recreation rooms, meeting rooms and schools,” he told a press conference following a demonstration by the Public Order Riot and Water Cannon Units at the Sarawak GOF headquarters in Batu Kawa here yesterday.

Aidi said the session was among a series of simulations carried out for unforeseen situations during the 12th Sarawak Election.

“For this election, we are preparing four Public Order Riot Unit teams, with four officers and 188 members.

“Of the four teams, two will be at the Kuching GOF 11th Battalion, and the other two at the Sibu GOF 10th Battalion and Miri GOF 12th Battalion.

“There is also a Water Cannon Unit team ready at the Kuching GOF 11th Battalion with one officer and 10 members.” He said no contesting parties had been found to violate the standard operating procedures (SOP).

“There are areas where physical campaigns are allowed, with a limited number of attendees. However, none was found to be violating the SOP.

“We will continue to monitor the situation to ensure SOP compliance. At the same time, we ask for the cooperation of the candidates to advise their supporters not to breach the SOP.

“Action will be taken against organisers for failing to control their supporters.”
