Proton launches 2022 Saga, priced from RM34,400

SUBANG JAYA: Perusahaan Otomobil Nasional Bhd (Proton) is offering four variants of its 2022 Saga, which was launched yesterday.

The four variants are the Standard MT, Standard AT, Premium AT and new Premium S AT priced at RM34,400, RM38,300, RM41,300 and RM44,300, respective­ly.

The on-the-road prices, with the sales tax exemption (without insurance), are valid until June 30.

“For close to four decades, the Saga has been the vehicle of choice for many Malaysians and buyers overseas, and we are proud to continue its legacy and mark the start of a new journey with the 2022 Saga.

“This latest update further extends the heritage of Proton’s alltime best-selling model for drivers of all ages and background­s.

“With more than 1.9 million units having been sold in more than 28 markets worldwide, we are confident that the Saga name will continue to thrive for many more years,” said Proton deputy chief executive officer Roslan Abdullah.

The facelifted 2022 Saga features updates inside and out as well as improved fuel efficiency with features such as Eco Drive Assist to highlight how efficientl­y the car is being driven.

The new Premium S variant in particular features a sporty dark colour scheme, redesigned semileathe­rette seats and new carpet mats with red edging.

The steering wheel, wrapped in leatherett­e with red finishing on the steering switches, comes with tilt adjustment builds.

Its seven-inch touchscree­n head unit has the latest operating software and Bluetooth 4.2 for better wireless connectivi­ty.

It also pairs seamlessly with Android and iOS smartphone­s.

Switches located on the steering wheel allow for easy access to change audio settings and answer calls while driving, and

three convenient­ly located USB ports make it easy to charge electronic devices.

Lastly, a text reminder would appear on the monitor asking owners to check if they have all their belongings and haven’t left their children behind once the engine is switched off.

Smart features include intelligen­t entry and door mirrors that automatica­lly unfold when unlocking the car, a new push-start button, and a remote trunk release on the key fob for easier to access the boot.

All variants are powered by a 1.3 litre four-cylinder 16-valve DOHC VVT engine.

The safety features include two SRS airbags, anti-lock braking system, electronic brake distributi­on and brake assist.

The 2022 Saga is open for bookings online and at authorised Proton showrooms.

It is available in five exterior colour options of Snow White, Armour Silver, Jet Grey, Rosewood Maroon and Ruby Red.
