Reservoir Link unit secures Kulim rooftop solar contract worth RM23m

Reservoir Link Energy Bhd’s subsidiary, RL Sunseap Energy Sdn Bhd, has bagged a rooftop solar contract from Osram Opto Semiconduc­tors (M) Sdn Bhd worth RM23 million.

The energy-related service provider said yesterday the contract involved the constructi­on of rooftop solar photovolta­ic systems and building-integrated photovolta­ic (BIPV) power generation facilities on rooftops, and covered and BIPV carparks in Kulim, Kedah.

These projects will have a combined installed capacity of 7,708.6 kilowatt peak (kWp) and an export capacity of 6,285 kilowatt AC power (kWac).

The solar agreement is expected to have a tenure of 25 years.

RL Sunseap Energy had also signed a rooftop solar supply agreement with PE Land (Penang) Sdn Bhd on May 25.

Under the agreement, it will design, construct, install, own, operate and maintain a solar PV energy generating system with a DC capacity of 1971.2 kWp on the rooftop of Design Village Outlet Mall in Penang.

Reservoir Link executive director Thien Chiet Chai said RL Sunseap Energy had secured these two contract wins in just under a month since the inception of the joint venture.

RL Sunseap Energy is a collaborat­ion between Reservoir Link and Sunseap Energy (M) Sdn Bhd.

“We see our recent wins as a testament to the strong synergy formed via RL Sunseap Energy, which reinforced our position as a formidable renewable energy farm contractor and owner.

“This is only the beginning of our journey with Sunseap.

“We believe that we are wellpositi­oned to provide more clean energy solutions to consumers in Malaysia, which is also in line with the national energy agenda,” he added.

Thien said to date, Reservoir Link had secured four solar power purchase agreements.
