Syasya quits all-girl group Dolla

LOCAL all-girl pop quartet Dolla is down to three members after Noor Syasya Afiqah Shahrizal decided to leave for personal reasons.

In a statement from the group’s label, Universal Music Malaysia managing director Kim Lim said Syasya, 23, had made her own decision.

“Although we receive this news with a heavy heart, we respect Syasya’s decision and continue to wish her the best in her journey.”

She said remaining members Sabrina Rusli or Sabronzo, Tabby Lam and Angel Chai would continue entertaini­ng fans as Dolla.

“We have made several plans to grow Dolla’s career in Southeast Asia, and we will continue to work towards this goal.”

Meanwhile, Tabby said: “We are, of course, saddened by this situation, but as a group we support Syasya in her decision and remain here for her.”

Angel added: “The bond we have built over the years is strong and we continue to see Syasya as our family.”

“The three of us are committed to continuing Dolla’s musical journey and we will work hard to make our fans proud,” said Sabrina.

Last month, Dolla represente­d Malaysia in Chinese reality show ‘Show It All’, produced by Lay Zhang of K-pop group Exo.

‘Show It All’ features several girl groups from around the world as guest artistes and is currently screened on Chinese television station, MangoTV.

Dolla was formed in 2019 and its first single was ‘Dolla Make You Wanna’ in March 2020.

To date, the group has released six singles, including ‘BAD’, ‘Impikan’ and ‘New Classic’.

The group has won several awards, including Most Popular Group/Duo at Anugerah MeleTop Era 2021, Most Popular Group/ Collaborat­ion at Anugerah Bintang Popular Berita Harian 25, and Best Music Video and Best Trending Song at the Gempak Most Wanted Awards 2023.
