Geely unveils AI-powered Galaxy Starship concept
GEELY Auto Group has unveiled its Galaxy Starship concept, with the sport utility vehicle (SUV) boasting the world’s first “11-in-one” intelligent electric drive.
Geely also becomes the first automotive industry enterprise in the world to create an entire system of artificial intelligence (Al) architectures for AI vehicles.
The architecture features AI digital chassis, silicon carbide hybrid drive that reduces silicon carbide usage by more than 75 per cent, and integrated satellite technology.
The vehicle was launched by Geely Auto Group chief executive officer Jerry Gan at the 2024 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition last month.
“Harnessing the power of AI to push the physical limits, Geely is committed to building intelligent cars that are controllable and connected,” Gan said.
Also present were Proton Holdings Bhd chief executive officer (CEO) Li Chunrong and Proton Edar Sdn Bhd CEO and Proton deputy CEO Roslan Abdullah.
Gan said the Galaxy Starship was a new technology flagship SUV prototype, which was developed based on the GEA architecture — Geely’s self-developed global intelligent new energy architecture that integrates “hardware, system, ecology, and AI”.
At the same time, he said as the world’s largest intelligent architecture with the largest new energy bandwidth, it has achieved full electrification and supports all energy forms such as pure electric, hybrid, extended range, and green methanol.
“It is the epitome of the strongest technology in the Galaxy and the first full-size SUV prototype of Geely,” he added.
Through the perfect integration of the world’s first AI big model and digital chassis, Geely Auto has taken the lead in achieving the world’s first unmanned drift.
Geely’s AI digital chassis has a reaction speed of only four milliseconds, which is 25 times faster than the human’s extreme reaction speed.
It can achieve “automatic control of the car” to avoid danger under extreme reaction, providing users with active avoidance, and never losing control of safety protection.
