The first thing you’ll no­tice about Ken­drick Wong is his in­sa­tiable cu­rios­ity in life. You can al­most hear the wheels turn­ing in his head as he fires a dozen ques­tions off at once. As a bud­ding en­tre­pre­neur, Ken­drick finds this in­quis­i­tive na­ture of his prag­matic. “Apart from self-dis­ci­pline and al­ways fo­cus­ing on your mis­sion, I be­lieve in hav­ing a tight knit of feed­back loop where I con­stantly ques­tion my­self and ask how I can do bet­ter. I am a per­son with a lot of ques­tions and am of­ten asked to chill out,” says the CEO of Shoppr and Om­ni­lyt­ics with an amused grin.

It was a nat­u­ral pro­gres­sion for Ken­drick and his team to be­gin build­ing out Om­ni­lyt­ics once Shoppr was es­tab­lished. While Shoppr acted as the ini­tial point of data col­lec­tion, Om­ni­lyt­ics was al­ways en­vi­sioned as a pro­gres­sion point, har­ness­ing the data col­lected from Shoppr to help fash­ion and beauty busi­nesses out­per­form com­pe­ti­tion through data-driven de­ci­sions. “My time and im­pact are driven by our mis­sion, which is to as­sist busi­nesses in mak­ing bet­ter de­ci­sions us­ing data,” says Ken­drick who cred­its self-dis­ci­pline when it comes to man­ag­ing be­tween the dif­fer­ent time zones and fre­quent trav­els.

Prior to Shoppr and Om­ni­lyt­ics, he had sold and ex­ited two com­pa­nies. Born into a fam­ily of en­trepreneurs, Ken­drick recog­nises the im­por­tance of hav­ing a men­tor or group of men­tors to seek ad­vice and read­just your fo­cus in busi­ness if nec­es­sary. “In a few years’ time, I want to be able to say we helped the next gen­er­a­tion of busi­nesses grow.”
