For Dewan Ng, co-working spaces are just the beginning of a new breed of real estate. The young entrepreneur believes that coworking spaces will soon evolve to prioritise space efficiency and the well-being of its members. “It’s a revolutionary approach and we are certainly in the infancy stage,” says the co-founder of Dojo, a communityfocused co-working space based in downtown Kuala Lumpur.

Taking on a people-first approach, Dojo focuses on work-life integration. Considering how the average person spends the majority of their waking hours at work, Dewan believes in creating an inspiring workspace that will lead to increased productivity. “We take a holistic approach in enhancing quality of life at the workplace – from designing workspaces that optimise human life to organising events and programmes that enable people to connect.”

Organising educational and social events for their members to be exposed to new technologies and keep updated with the latest developments is also part of Dojo’s pledge to help their members grow. Blockchain innovations, Bank Negara’s fintech regulations and Fireside chats with entrepreneurs are a few of the events they have organised.

As for Dewan’s advice to aspiring entrepreneurs, it’s all about staying focused on your long-term goals. “Always remember that entrepreneurship is a marathon, not a sprint. Don’t be disheartened when others pull ahead of you. Just keep working and getting better, you can win in the long run.”
