Prestige (Malaysia) - - Select - Sil­ver prints by Mal­ick Sidibé Vu d’ate­lier

con­stantin Brân­cusi’s Vu d’ate­lier, circa 1928, fetched US$125,000 at Swann Auc­tion Gal­leries’ The Pho­to­graphs & Pho­to­books auc­tion in Oc­to­ber. The sil­ver print de­picts four of the Ro­ma­nian artist’s iconic sculp­tures, in­clud­ing Socrates, which is now in the Mu­seum of Mod­ern Art. A suite of 25 sil­ver prints (1964-2001) show­cas­ing pho­tog­ra­pher Mal­ick Sidibé’s sig­na­ture black-and­white de­pic­tions of pop­u­lar cul­ture in the 1960s, par­tic­u­larly in Ba­mako, sold for US$55,000. Not too far be­hind at US$47,500 was The Walk To Par­adise Gar­den (1948) by pho­to­jour­nal­ist W. Eu­gene Smith.
