An extraordinary occasion calls for an extraordinary whisky. In celebration of its 10th anniversary, August Man Malaysia had the pleasure of partnering with Johnnie Walker to take the 2018 Men of the Year (MOTY) Awards ceremony one step further with the conception of the Johnnie Walker Blue Label 1-In-10,000 Awards – inspired by the making of the Blue Label, the pinnacle blend of the Johnnie Walker stable of whiskies, where traditionally only 1 in every 10,000 casks examined is found to have the required quality to produce the whisky’s remarkable signature taste. Capturing Johnnie Walker’s cardinal virtues, the 1-in-10,000 Awards recognise excellence in four categories: Rare Craft, Rare Character, Rare Legacy and Keep Walking. Together with Johnnie Walker, August Man took a retrospective look at all 100 MOTY from the past decade and discovered four special individuals who best epitomise the 1-in-10,000 Awards. At the 2018 MOTY event held in NAZA Automall, August Man hosted an elegant dinner for a grand body of MOTY alumni and proudly presented the winners of the Johnnie Walker Blue Label 1-In-10,000 Awards – for Rare Craft, filmmaker Quek Shio Chuan; for Rare Character, John-Son Oei of EPIC Collective; for Rare Legacy, social activist and barbershop owner Lex Low; and for Keep Walking, F&B entrepreneur Benjamin Yong.
