PORSCHE 911 CARRERA

Some 56 years and more than a million examples built after the 911 first saw the light of day, 2019 marks the appearance of the latest (seventh, eighth?) generation of world’s greatest sports car. The engine’s still in the wrong place and it still looks – barring a more aggressive snout – pretty much as always, but this new 992 model is more powerful (up to 380bhp on the entrylevel Carrera 2), faster, better handling and technologically smarter – and yet reassuringly not so very different from the classic 911 we’ve been in love with for decades. Hybrids are coming, but for now at least we can revel in the rasp of its six-pot boxer, wholly unfiltered.
