A TALE OF LIQUID GOLD
Following the successful release of The Macallan Double Cask 12 Years Old in 2016, the Speyside distillery returns with an expansion of the range with the Double Cask 15 Years Old and Double Cask 18 Years Old. Double Cask tells the story of a harmonious union of American and European oak sherry seasoned casks that create a perfectly balanced single malt Scotch whisky with an unforgettably warm character, accentuated with a contemporary, soft sweetness. The Macallan sources its European oak from the forests of northern Spain and the French Pyrenees, while the lush timberlands of Ohio, Missouri and Kentucky in America supply new oak. The wood travels thousands of miles to Spain, where both oak variants are transformed into handmade casks. Once seasoned, the casks are shipped to The Macallan Estate in Speyside where they are filled with the new-make spirit. After years of slumber, The Macallan’s whisky mastery team select the best balance from both the American and European oak sherry seasoned casks to create the Double Cask. The Macallan Double Cask 15 Years Old bears a golden butterscotch hue with aromas of dried fruit, toffee and vanilla with a creamy mouthfeel and warming finish, while The Macallan Double Cask 18 Years Old boasts a rich amber tone, imparting notes of dried fruits, ginger and toffee. The whiskies are rounded off with a warm oak spice finish–a Mac allan signature – as well as a citrus touch of sweet orange.
