Cartier’s new high jewellery collection is a symphonic ode to the beauty of the living world
Reimagining the world of flora and fauna, Cartier new [Sur]naturel high jewellery collection showcases a medley of the most precious, beautiful and mysterious stones the maison has delivered to date.
A collection that reflects nature more than nature itself, the art of abstraction bonds together many elements like water, plants and animals to form a primal energy captured by the dazzling curation of diamonds, emeralds, sapphires, opal, kunzite, coral, aquamarine, beryl and quartz, which faithfully reproduces an animal’s anatomy or a flower’s silhouette for the collection.
TAHA
Taking a leaf both metaphorically and literally from the design of a palm tree, the organic nature of the Taha necklace and earrings represents the opulence and aesthetic strength of the tree. Crafted from white gold, diamonds, green, green-blue and coloured sapphires, the remarkable ensemble was handcrafted in a staggering 1,009 hours. Unfolding the leafy design with its green and blue-green sapphires, the radiance of the yellow diamonds and sapphires make up this remarkably realistic ensemble. Curiously, the palm tree design is not at all foreign to the maison, having first featured it via its classic brooches in the 1920s.
NIVALIS
Platinum, aquamarines, opals and diamonds are set exquisitely for the Nivalis necklace and earrings which are inspired by the close-up features of a snowflake. Intentionally monochrome, the long necklace delivers a pop of colour via its emerald-cut aquamarine weighing at 43.34 carats that’s placed off-centre to one side. The Nivalis set is handcrafted in 1,273 hours and it’s not hard to see why.
FELINE
In 1914, the panther revealed itself as an abstract motif of onyx and diamonds on a Cartier watch. After countless of iterations for over a century the graceful yet powerful feline has attained legendary status at the maison. The [Sur]naturel Feline collection revisits the use of white gold, diamonds, emeralds and onyx to introduce a new playful and predatory collection that includes a bracelet, two designs of earrings, necklace, as well as rings to showcase the symbolic feline.
