How blessed are we as we enter May, a new month of various celebrations?
As we usher in Mother’s Day, we share the stories of three mother and daughter pairings who cover diverse areas of businesses and reveal their unique mentorship styles. In particular, we hope you find the story of Nurul Izzah Anwar and her 12-year-old daughter, YM Raja Nur Safiyah as enlightening and heart-warming as we did in their first-ever interview together!
Similarly, the stories featuring Angeline Tan and her mother Maria Tan herself of the popular Maria’s SteakCafe, as well as Anne Tham and daughters Erica and Grace Tham of local education provider ACE EdVenture, shed a light on what it is like working with family and the imperative role mothers’ play in shaping their children for success.
With more women businesses on the rise than ever before, we couldn’t just stop there. We also talked to the unwavering Sasibai Kimis, founder of Earth Heir; charming sisters Atiyya Zulkarnain and Najmia Zulkarnain of Unplug; the spirited Claire Sancelot of The Hive Bulk Foods; and award winning multi-disciplinary artist Pamela Tan who in their own exceptional persuasions, are paving the way for sustainability and overall eco-consciousness in Malaysia.
Our cover story also pays tribute to women, and what better personality to grace our cover than the sweet yet tenacious Nadia Nasimuddin. We can’t express how grateful we are to be able to share her struggles and triumphs revolving around her role as a mother, as she gives us more insight and substance as to who she really is beyond the façade of social media.
