Explore the complex matching of crystal and fragrances masterfully captured by Henry Jacques’ Les Toupies collection

There is perhaps no other maison that places such emphasis upon the vessel that carries its precious nectar than French haute parfumerie, Henry Jacques. Making sure that the nobility of the brand is represented aptly through its delicate crystal containers also known as flacons, each one is individually designed and hand crafted for the perfume it will contain.

Staying true to its regal legacy, Henry Jacques unveils Masterpieces: Les Toupies, or The Spinning Tops. Through whimsical craftsmanship, the collection seeks to recall nostalgic childhood memories that had once brought us great joy with its alchemy of scents made up of luxurious essences.

With more than three years in the making, the result is three complementary pairs of flacons with scents crafted for both him and her.

Multifaceted yet symmetrical, each pair is like stunning gemstones resting on its axis, safely storing the olfactory pleasing nectars they possess.

LES TOUPIES CHAPTER 1: MR. H & MRS. Y

Presented a s a c ouple, t he M R. H i s t he ‘ man’ fl acon t hat i s slightly larger than the ‘woman’, MRS. Y, at 50ml and 35ml, respectively. As each perfume holds its exclusive fragrance, basking in the masculine scents of cedar leaf, geranium, sandalwood, tobacco, amber and patchouli with Mr. H, and the feminine essences of ylang-ylang, rose damascenia, jasmine, iris, wild lily of the valley and tonka bean.

LES TOUPIES CHAPTER 2: No. 16 & No. 81

This modern pair is unconstrained by traditional rules and features lesser known ingredients of the olfactory world. Flacons crafted with clean lines, strong angles and futuristic silhouettes, No. 81 captures with the familiar scent of bergamot and grapefruit, but then seduces with layers of smoke and wood through dehen el oudh, ginger musk, sandalwood and tonka bean. Rose de Mai is prominent in No. 16, and opens up to a lively floral medley featuring gardenia, ylang-ylang, Florentine iris, ambrette seed white musk and vetiver, leaving a honeyed trail of pleasantness. No. 16 comes in 45ml while No. 81 comes in 60ml.

LES TOUPIES CHAPTER 3: FANFAN & GALILEO

The most curved and rounded Toupies of them all, the Fanfan and Galileo pair is meant to embody the personality and prosperous exuberance of a marriage. Galileo is manly yet tender, and this is apparent with its patchouli and geranium notes, revealing hints of lavender and mandarin, followed by masculine scents of oak moss, tobacco, myrrh and amber. Fanfan, like its name, is soft and graceful. Where lavender links it to Galileo, the complex layers of saffron, rose damascenia, cedar wood, leather and amber create a breath-taking perfume that is sensual, but uncompromisingly luxurious in nature. Galileo is available in 60ml and Fanfan in 40ml.

The Les Toupies perfumes are available at the Henry Jacques boutique in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.
