Boldly innovative, the Captain Cook High-Tech Ceramic by Rado is ready to be your companion on life’s next big adventure
In a year filled with hope, transformation, and tales of reinvention, Rado reveals a revolutionary timepiece to raise spirits even higher. The Captain Cook HighTech Ceramic is the culmination of many years of research and development, thoughtfully infused with the history and tradition of the Rado Captain Cook.
The Captain Cook collection features some of the brand’s most innovative achievements. These include the ground-breaking high-tech ceramic monobloc case construction, scratch-resistant and hypoallergenic high-tech ceramic, powered by the premium Rado calibre R734 featuring a Nivachron hairspring. Nivachron is a titaniumbased alloy that is insensitive to magnetic fields and impervious to fluctuations in temperature, with outstanding impact resistance.
The advanced Nivachron hairspring protects the Captain Cook High-Tech Ceramic from magnetic fields encountered in everyday life in the modern age. The feature is an exceptional advantage given the constant presence of magnetic fields through smartphones, computers, televisions, refrigerators, magnetic jewellery and more. Moreover, the advanced alloy is highly resistant to fluctuations in temperature with outstanding impact resistance that significantly improves timekeeping.
For the first time, Captain Cook Ceramic presents in a 43mm case with four striking variations. The first version arrives in a black high-tech ceramic case and bracelet with a hardened stainless steel turning bezel and black high-tech ceramic insert. The second variant features the same casing and dial, finishing with a rubber strap for a more casual feel.
The third iteration is offered similarly in a black high-tech ceramic case and bracelet with contrasts of rose gold coloured PVD coated stainless steel turning bezel and black high-tech ceramic insert. Finally, a fourth model features a distinctive plasma high-tech ceramic case and bracelet, with a hardened stainless-steel bezel and blue high-tech ceramic insert.

A WATCH ADJUSTED IN A SPECIFIC POSITION MAY DISPLAY ENTIRELY DIFFERENT ACCURACY VALUES IN ANOTHER ANGLE AND MUST THEREFORE BE ADJUSTED DIFFERENTLY. AS A RESULT, THE MORE POSITIONS A WATCH IS ADJUSTED IN, THE MORE PRECISE IT IS DURING EVERYDAY USE.
the Rado calibre R734 ensuring an 80hour power reserve and up to 30 bar (300m) water resistance. In addition to significantly increasing magnetic field resistance, the Rado calibre R734 also ensures greater accuracy of the movement thanks to a 5-position adjustment. The position of a watch determines how strongly the Earth’s gravitational pull affects the moving components of its movement. The external force can impact the accuracy of a timepiece movement which can vary depending on the position of the watch. The wearer’s movements have a bearing on this, as does if the timepiece is placed down on its front, sides, upward or downward.
A watch adjusted in a specific position may display entirely different accuracy values in another angle and must therefore be adjusted differently. As a result, the more positions a watch is adjusted in, the more precise it is during everyday use. The 5-position adjustment of the Captain Cook High-Tech Ceramic is an adjustment process that is very time-consuming and technically complex. This quality standard is primarily seen only in the luxury segment of the horology world. Rado does not spare itself this effort to offer customers a refined wearing experience. The dial and case are finely articulated in black-tinted sapphire crystal, enabling the wearer to admire the inner workings of the skeletonised movement as the timepiece remains legible.
Filled with white Super-LumiNova, the triangle on the bezel, the indexes, and the classic Captain Cook chunky arrow hands on the dial gleam brightly in the dark. This magnificent sapphire dial is also home to the iconic Rado rotating anchor at the 12 o’clock marker, protected by a chevé box sapphire crystal.
Overall, the new Captain Cook Ceramic is a mechanical masterpiece that expresses Rado’s DNA to its fullest. It is a timepiece that invites experience to perceive lightness and technological mastery, the perfect companion for an adventure towards a brighter tomorrow.
