The new John Walker & Sons Celebratory Blend aims to do just that with its nostalgic and limited packaging that when opened, reveals the only image of founder John Walker’s small grocery story in Kilmarnock, Scotland. When it comes to the prized golden nectar itself, expect a rich and complex blend of flavours inspired by the stock books of Walker’s grocery store in the 1860s and whisky distilleries that were operating at the time. For a more literal description of its piquancy, Master Blender Jim Beveridge adds that the whisky features notes of sweet dried raisins, followed by subtle spice and marzipan. It then quickly develops into hints of roasted nuts with icing sugar sweetness and gentle peat, finally rounding off with a soft peppery finish.
