FROM THE ARCHIVES
To mark the 100th year of its American 1921 watch, Vacheron Constantin delved into its archives and horological
expertise to reproduce the original properties of the emblematic timepiece from scratch. This unprecedented process involved the maison’s most experienced artisans and Heritage team, who spent a year reviving old tools and forgotten know-how to recreate the watch. While some period components for the one-of-a-kind model were available in the stocks of the Restoration workshop, others had to be entirely reproduced, such as the 11-ligne Calibre Nouveau and its 31.5mm case. The latter was hand-crafted by an in-house goldsmith from the specific gold alloy used for the historical model. Only a laser engraving applied to the caseback
distinguishes the reproduced piece from the original.
