KEEPING WARM IN STYLE
Stay warm and effortlessly stylish with Chanel’s Fall-Winter 2021/22 Ready-toWear collection
For Virginie Viard, CHANEL’s Fall-Winter 2021/22 Ready-to-Wear collection is her chance to showcase her love for contrasts. As evidenced by the warm yet chic pieces, the creative director of the brand has effortlessly utilised contrasts between volumes, materials and spirit to create an eye-catching collection.
“This collection is a mix of two influences: the ambiance of ski holidays, which I adore, and a certain idea of cool Parisian chic, from the 1970s to now,” Viard states.
A quick glance at some of the fall and winter pieces worn during the collection’s showcase in Castel proves as much. The salopettes-ski suits in white quilting embroidered with red and blue motifs, or in fuchsia tweed, are paired with strappy sandals embellished with chains and little black bows or pumps adorned with a camellia, whereas delicate blouses in chiffon or crêpe de Chine are worn with pieces inspired by winter sportswear.
Strass-covered minaudières worn like a sautoir necklace, a tweed kilt over a knitted jumpsuit embellished with iridescent threads, a long tweed coat with a chevron motif revealing bare legs wearing voluminous boots in black curly faux fur, a trouser suit in black tweed with small checks in blue lurex and adorned with thin braces in pearls and layers of sautoir necklaces; these are among the apparel that constitutes the collection.
Viard admits that some of the silhouettes make her think of Stella Tennant’s allure. “The way she wore certain pieces,” says Viard, “it was so Chanel.”
