Teoxane expert and aesthetic physician Dr Melissa Liaw, Medical Director of Eden Clinic, clarifies basic misconceptions about using dermal fillers

Dr. Liaw says patients often fear dermal fillers would make them look unnatural and “plastic-like”. She clarifies that this is not true as Teosyal fillers have a brilliant range that respects the dynamic movements of our face (i.e. our facial expressions), resulting in a very natural result post treatment. It is also often assumed that fillers are for the older crowd. However, Dr. Liaw assures that the treatment work for all age groups, as certain areas of concern are caused by congenital issues rather than the ageing process. She also elaborates on Teosyal Redensity® 2, which is made up of a mixture of cross-linked and non cross-linked hyaluronic acid, resulting in a gel soft enough to correct the sunken area but not cause problems like lumpiness or Tyndall effect (a bluish discolouration). It also contains the patented Dermo-Restructuring Complex that improves skin quality in the area. The treatment’s ‘filling’ effect can be seen immediately afterwards whereas the improvement in skin quality would take a few weeks to notice.
