KO CHUAN ZHEN 37 Group CEO & Co-Founder, Plus Xnergy

A visionary entrepreneur, Ko Chuan Zhen is the Group CEO and co-founder of Plus Xnergy, a solar company that provides sustainable energy solutions to Malaysian homes and businesses. A qualified solar photovoltaic engineer, Ko first encountered clean energy during a final year project at Multimedia University (MMU) that required him to lower the temperature of a car.

“After I convinced my father to lend me his Proton Iswara, I successfully used a solar panel to lower the temperature of the car. This result earned me a spot on the dean’s list that year and sparked my passion for engineering,” he shares.

Following his newfound passion for green energy, Ko pursued an internship in Taiwan. “Upon my return to Kuala Lumpur, I saw empty building rooftops and made up my mind that one day, I would equip those rooftops with clean energy systems.”

Since 2013, Plus Xnergy has redefined the nation’s energy ecosystem with smart energy solutions using Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things ( AIoT). It is also the first company to make solar power affordable for everyone with a rent-to-own program. Adopters gain free solar energy and full ownership of the system following a short-term rental plan. By 2023, Ko aims to outfit 2,000 homes with solar power and generate more than 500 business opportunities for Malaysians.
