“Wear the clothes, don’t let the clothes wear you,” is an apt saying we feel is truly embodied by Malaysian fashion designer, Alia Bastamam. When the winner of the Brand of the Year at the Kuala Lumpur Fashion Awards wore some of her namesake designs at our photoshoot, she seemed to glide past us in her flowy dresses, bringing an ethereal presence in the studio. Even so, Alia is probably the mostgrounded designer we have ever met. Casually chatting and laughing away thus making the entire session feel like a breeze, it is no wonder the house of Alia Bastamam is still going strong and steady for 10 years now.
