Until 15 Jan 2023 EXHIBITION: WONDERS OF WILDERNESS (WOW 1.0) – THE OCEANS

Malaysia’s first and largest 2D and 3D community and digital art installation is now open at the former colonial Lands and Surveys Office building in front of Suria Sabah Mall in Kota Kinabalu, with the support of the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry. An effort led by Japson Wong, marine biologist and artist, marine species and ecosystems come to life using recycled materials to create 20 supersized sculptures and more. In addition to sculptures and paintings, the exhibition also integrates Augmented Reality filters on Instagram and even a marine-themed underwater UV art room. Visitors will leave with greater awareness of marine life, including the impact of unsustainable developments, industrial activities, and uncontrolled economic programmes. Lead artists Wong and Rosmaini Sunarjo have worked on the massive project since April 2021, with help from supporting artists including Penny Chong,

Azlan Dulikab, Cannie Tan, Lim Sheng Haw, Oliver Kah, and Yahz.
