A NEW MOVEMENT
The natural elements, especially water, have long been a cherished source of inspiration for Chaumet for over 200 years. Déferlante, a new High Jewellery capsule collection, enriches the maison’s rich stylistic repertoire with an eight-piece parure that draws from an archival drawing of a fountain. Immortalising the grace and power of breaking waves is a balanced mix of tensions, artful curves, virtuoso settings and bold angles. The Déferlante tiara embodies all that as it expresses rising waves with fascinating realism. The motif’s extreme complexity is a testament to the maison’s unparalleled savoir-faire. Showcasing meticulous stone setting and openwork craft, the white gold creation is a bejewelled sculpture that attributes its lightness to the way in which the stones are mounted in bands. No less than 1,600 brilliant-cut and step-cut diamonds capture the dynamism and energy of crashing water. However, the secret to evoking the glistening ocean foam lies in the large cut-down setting, which involves carving white gold away from the claws that secure each diamond to allow light to enter from the sides.
