DATO’ JUDY CHENG-HOPKINS
SPECIAL ADVISER OF THE SECRETARY-GENERAL THE UNIVERSITY FOR PEACE
Since mid-1990s, Dato’ Judy ChengHopkins has had a long and illustrious career with the United Nations (UN). She previously served as the UN's Assistant Secretary General for Peacebuilding Support, her appointment into the prestigious role made on April 2009. As of September 2014, she has been appointed as Special Adviser of the SecretaryGeneral on the University for Peace, an institution that seeks to promote the spirit of understanding, tolerance and peaceful coexistence; to stimulate cooperation among peoples; and to help lessen obstacles and threats to world peace. She works with the Council and the university’s academic and managerial leadership to develop and implement a comprehensive reform programme encompassing academics, administration and management.
