THE HOUSE OF DIOR: 70 YEARS OF HAUTE COUTURE
Melbourne’s Dior exhibition comes to life in a display of more than 140 handcrafted couture garments, which include the iconic spring 1947 New Look collection. The showcase also features a grand, sweeping staircase inspired by the House of Dior building in Paris and a bespoke workspace. JIWA: JAKARTA BIENNALE
This year’s artistic director of the Jakarta Biennale, Melati Suryodarmo refers to the Indonesian concept of Jiwa as life, energy, vigour or “soul”. The fair will debate Jiwa in the context of contemporary art and culture, by sharing diverse art forms and methods in relation to our environment and political implications. GERAK RUPA UBUR PENYATAAN 1957-1973
Translated as Movement, Form, Torch and Statement, the title is a reference to an exhibition of the same name, held in 1967, which focused on seven artists who had returned from abroad to shape a modern aesthetic in their art. This exhibition showcases those early works, juxtaposed against the larger cultural developments that have taken place in the last five decades.
