Find­ing bliss among the buzz

IIt’s al­most year-end, and the stresses of the months since Jan­uary have prob­a­bly ac­cu­mu­lated. You’re just about ready to burst, be­cause: year-end weight-loss tar­get not met, work­place KPI fell short, anx­i­ety over how your ap­praisal went, fail­ure to tick enough or any items off your bucket list, not prac­tic­ing any­thing in your 2018 res­o­lu­tions list, so many dis­ap­point­ments. Yes, I know. I some­times feel the same way, and, from ob­ser­va­tion, I feel oth­ers do, too. But, if there’s one re­al­i­sa­tion that came to me upon my 45th birth­day a few months ago, it’s that you’ll prob­a­bly never tick ev­ery­thing off that to-do list. And, that’s okay. Once I re­alised that I’m not a fail­ure if I don’t achieve ev­ery tar­get I set out to do, I came to terms with it. I’m less stressed about it, and I’m look­ing for­ward to 2019 be­cause there’s so much more to do and to try, and achieve. I’ll just keep on writ­ing that tar­get list, track­ing my KPIs, draw­ing up bucket lists, and so on. And, I’ll keep re­vis­ing them as my wishes of the mo­ment sway and shift. The point is to keep mov­ing, to keep hop­ing, to keep chal­leng­ing, and to keep try­ing. That’s all. Have a bliss­ful year-end, SHAPE-ers, and hope you’ll have an ex­cit­ing 2019! P.S.
